Memories matter.
Sometimes we have plans, but often, life happens faster.
Of course, memories matter, but restoring grandmother’s cabinet takes a lot of focused time. The day to day has to be the focus; your plans get stored for tomorrow.
This project was 20 years in the making.
Finally we completed tomorrow’s project.
Rekindled memories make a world of difference.

The Hoosier base cabinet was lightly stripped of remaining finish, any loose joinery was reglued and metal lower drawer patched

The chipped porcelain top was reversed, best edge out

Dust and Time's crumbs were thoroughly cleaned from the interior of the base

Door joints, most loose were re-glued and doors squared and cleaned up

The shelf surfaces were stripped of remaining varnish and dust. A new shelf created.

The tambour was waxed and squared for easy, smooth service

The base gets three coats of high quality varnish

Finish application process is under way

Doors receive the finish treatment

Original hardware is cleaned and painted the original color

Door is fitted and re-hung

The double doors are fitted and adjusted for alignment

Upper section reset on the base for the first time in 20 years

Hinges, original style latches and period glass pulls are installed. The lower door is next.

Grandmother's Hoosier Cabinet is set where it has been always meant to be. Looks great!!
