A rescue restored.
It all begins with an idea.
Maybe you want to restore an interesting rescue, put make it right, put it back to work.
Barn dust and grim was no friend to this piece;
but the owners saw value. So did we.
Attention to detail and a little TLC made all the difference.

The sides of the oak cabinet were well worn from abrasion and water from a leaky barn

Broken solder joint allowed the glass to pop free of the various positions; the glazing, dry and brittle, allowed the glass to rattle when the door was handled

Lost hinges were replaced with the original style. Exact fit were unavailable, so new replacements were installed and the mortises patched.

The opposite door received the same treatment.

The lower block elements were created with an appropriate motif, stained to color and glued in place. Base molding was addressed next

Fresh glazing was rubbed into the edges of the lead glass-work, each piece, inside and out, exterior and interior sides of both doors. The loose rattling resolved

The damaged corner of the crown molding received a spliced-in grain match. The edges of the splice were carefully bedded to ensure maximum glue surfaces.

The owners selected drawer pulls and escutcheons. Motif-reminiscent wooden stand-offs were created to cover a series of holes from original (unavailable) pulls. The stand-offs were included as part of the new pulls

Light Steel wool cleared off loose shellac and stain to prepare for a light coat of stain and fresh finish.

A light sanding ensures a smooth even surface

Minimum surface disturbance allowed to retain the rustic look of the piece

A light coat of stain and two coats of de-waxed clear shellac finished the job

Drawer, Doors and Locks all work as designed. The broken missing pieces renewed. the finish re-freshed - not perfect - "Rustic". Ready for Delivery
